I know this is a "junk" radio, but it's here, and it fits, and it's going into a car dash.

I have been going crazy trying to find the schematic and alignment information for this radio.

It seems to have a low receive, and the schematic would be very helpful for a real alignment of this little radio.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Romstar

Just a small update;

I made a MISTAKE. The radio in Question is a TRC-415 NOT, I repeat, NOT a 419.

This radio has no FCC ID number. It carries ONLY a Canadian DOC number.

I have also seen the TRC-438 that appears to be an identical radio to the 415, only with a black face.

The Realistic service manual (210-1509) is for the TRC-415 and (210-1552) is for the TRC-438.

Sorry about any confusion.

Thanks,
Romstar

Wish that was all I needed. The problem is that I actually need the service manual or at least the schematic and layout diagram for this bloody thing.

I know it isn't worth too much frustration, but I am pretty determined to find this information somewhere.

Thank you for your efforts.

Tech808,

I just re-read your message, and you mention the 485?

I thought I knew what that was, and when I looked, I was right. The 485 isn't even close to the 415.

The 415 *IS* listed in the mods section, but it's not exactly correct, and there are some things missing. I will send you the updated info for that soon.

Still having the same problem though, I am really in need of at LEAST a schematic for this little 415, and the service manual would be a major plus. It's like they were made for a while, and then completely forgotten. They seem to turn up on ebay a lot though.

Thanks to everyone for looking.

Hey everybody,

I just had a wonderful conversation with a great lady at RadioShack. Go figure.

Now, I know this radio is old, she said it was discontinued in 1987, but as most of us know, Tandy didn't manufacture most of their radios.

She told me this particular radio (the TRC-415) was manufactured by Maxon. Which is where this story starts getting a bit strange.

She couldn't tell me a Maxon model number, and I can't find any Maxon radios that look like it.

Maxon is carried by Midland in the United States, so I figured a call over there was in order.

Another very, very nice lady there is currently working on the issue, but since the radio was made by Maxon for Tandy, and in 1986, she couldn't tell me if there was anything to find.

If anyone here has some ideas, feel free to post them. I am rapidly running out of options for this poor radio.

Thanks guys,
Romstar
