UPDATE! Copper Forum Members, After talking with Sam Lewis yesterday here is the LATEST NEWS on the MAGNUM 257. Sam says the first Pre-Production MAGNUM 257's should arrive around January 12th, 2006. If everything checks out OK on them from the Assembly plant they should start arriving sometime in February 2006. No need to ask any other Questions as this is the latest / up to date information that I have. As Sam gives me more information I will post it as soon as possible. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN |

Guess I answered my own question here. I broke down and called Mr. Lewis @ Magnum and he told me that the first few new batches of 257's will have the mitsubishi 1969 finals in them or until such time when they run out them, (since they are discontinued). Magnum is all set to switch over to mosfets for the 257. He said that all new production Magnum radios will have mosfet finals soon. How cool is that? It must be great to work for Mr. Lewis, what a true gentlemen !!! |

Dale, With the Mini Mag I have tested with a SINGLE ERF-2030 in it I had a dead key of 3 watts swinging 30 watts + PEP NOTE! That was with STCOK/FACTORY Mini Magnum Mic that is designed to work with the Mini Mag. With an after market mic DM-452, and another NON Mini Mag Mic from the S-3/S-45 it did not do the 30 watts. And with the S-6-80 I tested with the DUAL ERF-2030 finals with a 4 watt dead key it was doing 80 Watts + PEP with NO PROBLEM. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN |

Flat_top, From my post that I posted on Wednesday, April 05, 2006 - 2:47 pm: in the: Ask The Tech » Radio's Mobile » When the Magnum 257's come in... When Copper receives the radios from Magnum International and they are in stock and ready to be shipped/ordered I will make a post in the Open area of the Copper Forum to let everyone know. I just got off the phone with Sam Lewis and he said the FIRST Samples from the Factory will arrive sometime in APRIL. He said if everything checks out OK with the pre-production samples then the first Production run should arrive sometime in JUNE. Hope this helps, Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9CEF CVC#2 |

After talking with Sam Lewis this week there is still a DELAY on the production of the Magnum 257 Radio's. Sam said the Technician's from the plant in the Philippines are still awaiting approval of Visa's to be issued from the Chinese government so they can enter the country to get the production line set up to start production. I will continue to keep the Copper Forum Member's updated as I receive any information from Sam Lewis. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9CEF CVC#2 |
