Redraven,

The 175 watt S-9 will have Variable Power Output Control as far as I know along with the other standard features as the S-9 and the S-9-80 except MORE POWER.

As for what the minimum is that it can be turned down to I honestly have no idea as the radio is still in the production stage.

Is that power figure RMS (average) or PEP?

Is it basically the regular S9 with an amp on the bottom like the 48T? If so, then couldn't you expect to see the same power output or is that all there is?

And finally....when, when, when, when, when??????

Oh and how much?

Yeah, it helps to tell me when it's suppose to be here....but I don't want to wait....I want it now, now, now, now!!!! I said NOW!!!

I haven't had my pill this morning, sorry.

Boy howdy...175 watts RMS? That's horse choking ain't it? That is about what you could expect to see from a 48T after you've molested it with a pair of clipping pliers.

So what kind of PEP figure do you think it'll do?

Dale,

We did receive a shipment of S-380's and S-680's. The S-380's were damaged in shipment and we are waiting for them to be replaced. We only received enough S-680's to fill backorders.

I know it's only the 'middle' of June...but it's late enough for me, so....

ARE THEY HERE YET????????

How can I go about getting my name on the list for a 175 watt version? This is driving me crazy...

Hey Lon, any pictures of what it is suppose to look like, like on the inside and out. Top & bottom? I bet that would look so cool on my dash...bye bye Dave.

any i idea on how the 2030's are gonna get 175 watts, lon? how many are they gonna use-4, 5, 6? is it gonna use an add-on amp section like the ar3500 on back or rci-type radios on bottom? or are they gonna stuff a bunch of transistors inside the radio? curious about heat buildup/cooling capacity....

Ok, so I'm confused big time now. The 175 watt version isn't going to have an amp on the bottom of it like the Galaxy 95T & 48T?

It's only going to have the ERF MOSFET's in it? If this is right, then are you telling me I can add these to my radio and get the same results?

Oh you know what, they should make two versions, one with and one without the Old Glory faceplate on it already. The knobs are hard to get off and the Old Glory faceplate isn't as shiny as the stock faceplate. It would be nice to have the Old Glory but with it real shiny like the stocker. Anybody else feel the same?

How much with the 175 watt version be or has no price been set yet? Or has it been posted and I've missed it?

Why not just wait until Sam get's the radio's in and supplies us with the complete information then I will be able to list all of the Feature's it will have.

And NO there is no price as yet as they have not even been manufactured and Copper Electronics will not know the price until Magnum has them and are ready to ship them to the dealer's.

When the Radio's are IN STOCK and READY to be shipped to Copper Customer's I will make a post for All of the Copper Forum Member's to read listing all of the FEATURE's it will have.

not even been manufactured?!!!

how in the heck are we going to get them in a month if they arent even to the assembly line yet?
im confused.

YL says that i can buy a NEW radio in three months and this looks like the one!

i know we are supposed to wait, but im going to go ahead and guess that the 175 watt figure comes from using multiple ERF2030's.
some amps are being made this way, and maybe it is the wave of the future.
hopefully the heatsink is on the bottom of the radio as that would allow for a larger heatsink.

im drooling already.

I'm wondering too, wouldn't it make more sense to use 2 pills like SD1446, etc to get the same thing with less complication? The 1446 ala KL300 design is tried, true, and flame tested by KV :-) J/K I'd rather match up 2 devices than 6 :-)

HERE IS THE LATEST UPDATED INFORMATION DIRECT FROM SAM LEWIS!

On the S-6-175 and S-9-175 radio's the Outside Appearance will be almost EXACTLY the same with only the Speaker Side of the case maybe being 1/2 inch bigger/larger.

NO other changes will be made to the outer Appearence or Standard Feature's of the radio's.

The Extruded HEAT SINK will be Incorporated into the case so it will NOT be like the exterior mounted heat sinks like on the ranger or other radio's.

The POWER will come from:

1 ~ 2214 Pre-Driver stage going into
1-ERF-2030 going into
2-ERF-2030's in parallel which will then Drive/Excite
4-ERF-2030's
in a push/pull parallel setup.

Now for the BAD New's.

Sam is now Expecting the Delivery date of the
S-6-175 and the S-9-175
Radio's to be some time around the end of JULY or first part of AUGUST 2006 as some design changes needed to be made.

This is the latest information that I have direct from Sam Lewis, so if you have any more question's please hold them until the later part of July or 1st part of August.

When/If Sam give's me UPDATED information I will be happy to post it for All of the Copper Forum Member's to read.

Hope this help's,

Just hopeing the S-9 175 watt version will have a fan system.

I'll take an educated guess, judging by the price of the current model of the S-9 that the 175 watt model of the S-9 will be somewhere in the $400.00-$500.00 price range, plus the UPS delivery charge.
Although at present this is only a guess price tag. We will see how close my guess is when Copper Electronics has them for sale.

I'm even interested in the 175 watt S-9 for my mobile.

As I posted above,

Direct from Sam Lewis:

NO other changes will be made to the outer Appearence or Standard Feature's of the radio's.

This means there is NO fan on the MAGNUM S-9 radio's now so there will be NO fan on the
MAGNUM S-9-175

Hmmmph. No other external changes. Well, I hope that the meter doesn't stop at 50 watts like the old S-9/S-6. I'd hate to plunk down 5 bills and not be able to see the needle hit the big 175. Eh? Whad'ya think?

And what about the S-9/S-6 80? Does the meter read more than 50 watts?

I agree Matt, except this will be the first NEW radio i will have purchased, ever. There is no way on this planet that i will be able to jump the queue on you guys so will just have to sit back and wait until supply and demand equal out and then organize one to be sent across the puddle. I just have to be a bit more patient than you lot.....lol.

No Fan and if the price is going to 5 bills I will stay with a present unit that I already have a little heat for. That combined with the delivery delay just counted me out of the running for one of these radios I have heard so many good things about.

Don't misunderstand I had to have it by a certain date prior to my road trip cross country and if for close to same price I can push upward of 500 watts with a flick of the switch and only a bit more wiring why would I not do that?

Either the prices I have for things is way off or I am missing something here. Probably me missing something but we will see when they come out. Guess I had better go ahead and get started on a regular radio installation.

#1 ~ No one even knows what the price will be and ONLY Yankee above mentioned the $500.00 price range in his post.

#2 ~ As for a Fan with the Extruded HEAT SINK that will be Incorporated into the case Sam does not feel one is needed as it will NOT be like the exterior mounted heat sinks like on the ranger or other radio's.

#3 ~ And I am quite sure after testing them if Sam felt there was a need for a fan he would of added one.

#4 ~ I mean with the MAGNUM WARRANTY Sam is not going to build a radio that he will end up repairing under the Magnum warranty and losing money on them.

#5 ~ As stated above when I have the CORRECT Information from Sam on the arrival and the price from Copper for the Copper Forum Member's I will post it for everyone to read.

Guess we will have to wait and see

#1 ~ I believe the price point will be below the $500.00 mark but will be in the $400.00's due to the existing S-9 pricing.

#2 & #3 ~ Only time will tell

#4 ~ Doesn't mean it would be better suited with a fan. Running AC where I live will help but for those in the cold parts of the country needing he heater and with where most radios end up mounted, well, I hope this was taken into account. I agree so far Magnum has seemed to be very reputable with their customer service & warranties.

#5 ~ Information is appreciated

~ Real World applications best bang for the buck, I'm just not sure. NOT saying I am right. We know most folks want to run some heat (legal or not, it's reality and should be considered). So a highly priced radio requiring a highly priced and limited amp when you can get the same end result for half to 3/4's of the price, well, we will have to wait and see.

That's all I'm saying. The radio is no longer a slam dunk buy for me. Still probably better than any radio I own or will, just have to wait and see if everything will add up in the long run. Nothing personal here.

Well, I'm checking in regularly. I am seriously considering the S-9 175 watter. Hopefully, it will be stable on frequency like my Magnum OF-45 and not drift around on am like my Galaxy 95T till it's warmed up. It has to warm up in a 110 degree car!--but what an am talker it is!

The last I head from Sam Lewis last week is he was still hoping to have them around the end of AUGUST.

If I get any more updates from Sam I will post them for everyone.

It will suprise me if they ever come out. Magnum has been delaying the production of all their radios for coming on a year now

Somewhere there is some mis-information floating around.

The ONLY Delay has been in keeping up with the growing demand and sales and with the re-designing of the 175 W models and the Magnum 257.

The Magnum 257 delay is due to changing countries which was no fault of Magnum since the assembly plant in the Philippines for the Magnum 257 closed.

This was something that Magnum International had NO CONTROL over.

In the last year the re-designed (ERF-2030) Mini Mag 30, S-3, S-6, S-9, have all been released as well as all of the Nitro Model's.

Magnum International has released MORE Models within the last 12 month's than any other Radio Manufacturer has in any 12 month period.

Sam Lewis (Owner) of MAGNUM INTERNATIONAL said ANY Copper Forum Member can call and speak with him DIRECT at: 1-877-624-6869 for the latest UP TO DATE INFORMATION.

And there just is NO OTHER RADIO MANUFACTURER/OWNER in the US that cares enough about thier customer's that will give you a DIRECT PHONE NUMBER where you can call and speak DIRECTLY with the OWNER!

Hope this help's to clear things up.

Will you still be able to get the original S9 or is each new series of S9 going to replace the older versions?

That's great. I do not need those hi-power ones for the equipment I'm running.

Im4jc asked: "And what about the S-9/S-6 80? Does the meter read more than 50 watts?"

Oh...oh...OH! That's a sweet sight baby. Someday when I grow up I might just have one that says "175" on the meter.
