Cool / Cold Weather and Old Man Winter is almost upon us again.

Below are a few Tip's / Trick's that I have learned over the year's and use for Winter / Cold Weather condition's.

With cooler / colder weather / temp's upon us again here in the Mid-West I figured this would be of help to some of you who use a Mobile Radio and mobile Amplifier.

I am sure that many of you have seen / experienced moisture build up on the inside of your windshield in cooler/colder month's.

This moisture ALSO build's up inside of your mobile radio and mobile amplifier's.

Below are a few Tip's / Trick's that I have learned over the year's that I hope will be of help to everyone.

Problem: Condensation buildup inside of your mobile radio and/or mobile amplifier.

During winter / cool month's temp's, you will find that moisture / condensation will tend to build up inside of mobile radio's and amp's which can and has caused problem's.

A remedy that I have personally found and use to help solve / resolve this problem is below.

Equipment needed:

1 ~ Drill

2 ~ A small cloth bag or Sandwich Zip Lock Bag (small)

3 ~ 1 box of Arm and Hammer or Floor Dry.

Instruction's:

Step #1 ~ Remove radio cover's carefully (Top and Bottom}

Step #2 ~ Look for a place / location where you can "VERY CAREFULLY" find drill 2 ~ 1/4" ~ small hole’s in the TOP and BOTTOM cover’s of the radio WITHOUT damaging anything!

Step #3 ~ VERY CAREFULLY drill 2 ~ small hole's in the Top and Bottom cover’s / frame of radio to allow air to flow through the radio and allow moisture build up to dry/escape.

Step #4 ~ Insert small bag of Arm and Hammer or Floor Dry inside of radio making sure that it will not interfere with any components with bag slightly open or smallhole's in it to allow air flow.

Step #5 ~ carefully replace Top and Bottom cover’s on radio

Step #6 ~ Check / Replace bag monthly or sooner depending on the area / condition's you live in.

Good Article Lon, Thanks for sharing.
I have found that moisture absorber packets found in shoe boxes works too.
