I really like my mic. Like Lon, I just barely open the echo control or leave it completely closed for best results.
Make sure that you keep your mouth at least 4 inches away from the microphone or you may risk sounding distorted.
An excellent mike! All reports indicate loud and crystal clear.

Hello everyone, I have tried the 452 for a few weeks now and some of my co-workers like the sound alot, but myself and another driver, think it sounds a little "dark". I took the back cover off and the other driver said it helped, but was still dark compared to my RK 56 and Astatic 636. I adjusted the internal power down and tried differen't mic gain settings on the radio to no avail. Did I get a bad one or do the filters Lon mentioned in his review make it sound this way...It is clear and can be very loud just not natural sounding, if that makes sense...I have tried it on my S9,General Sherman, and a couple of Cobra's...any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

I do not know what you mean by dark, this is a first for me. If a RK-56 and a 636 sounds better, then I would say you have a problem somewhere.

try turning down gain inside the mic itself
it might be overdriving the radio. turning down the mic gain will have no effect
on a power mic turned up too high.
