Shirley, I just read your review on the cobra radio. A ? I have is this: you stated that it really lights up the inside of your vehicle at night?

Would this not cause a distraction for some drivers? One thing I like on a radio is a dimmer switch for night use, as just the #'s and light meter can be a distraction to me. I know this does not cause a problem for most people, and for young people the blue neon will be something to impress their friends with. And that is fine too. Just curious if the bright lights could be a distraction at night.

In meantime, thank you for the review.

I have not found it to be a distraction, but instead I actually find it nice to be able to find the control's without taking my eyes off the road like with most radios to be able to see which control or what channel I am on or want to switch too.

We mounted it in our Ford Focus on the passenger side on the floor/shift console and that makes it easy to see and use.

And the Control Knobs & Toggle Switchs (Volume & Squelch, NOR/CH9, CB/PA) are Twice the size as those on the Uniden Pro 510XL & 520 radios and much easier to use.

And the CA-73 Hand Mic is a REAL pleasure to use instead on those mini little dinky mics you find on most other small CB's.

It looks like Cobra is beginning to make quality products, again, and that is nice to see!

Thanks for doing the review. If anyone asks me what I recommend for a small vehicle, I'll know what to tell them, now!

Kilowatt, I had a Cobra 75WXST before the Mag257, it is the SMALLEST I have seen. It sounds pretty thin on the receive due to it's tiny speaker but it sounds great on transmit. Nothing an external speaker can't fix, but negates it's purpose. I now have it in the band truck and wish I had it back as I may be buying a WAY smaller car like... oh... tomorrow :-)

Good deal, Chad!

Heck, with the price of gas as it is, I'm looking into buying a Metro 3 cylinder, myself... ;-)

Man, I'm sure glad I don't have to drive my old 460 powered Lincoln for primary transportation, anymore!

Hmmm, I've never seen a Cobra 75WXT before- I'll have to look those up!

Good call on the 20XTR! Put one in a Ford Focus for a friend also (Lon advised). We nice talking radio bone stock. Tried a few diff mics on it and this one seems to like the Astatic Red Devil. It gave the radio a bit more punch.
Now to add a tiny kicker :-)

Back on this subject....
Same 20xtr, wilson1000, and a road devil, NEW CAR though, old one got totaled, but still another Focus. Now she's wanting more OOomf to it. She does alot of talking thats 60-80 miles away up here in some pretty rough country. I was thinking along the lines of a Palomar 450, i have one in my Honda Element and it does great, or a smaller 300 or 350. Think she's looking for around 200w, and not 2000$. KLV maybe ? or ? in this case, size does matter LOL. Anyone mount something under the hood and run remote back to the cab ?
Can't imagine the Focus handling too much, and NO, she's not going to go swap alternators, add batteries and all that stuff.
Tell me tell me, what good ideas have ya ! :-)

Hey Lon!
Put that kl300p in the Focus with the Cobra20xtr. What a combo! Like they were meant for each other :-)
On the Passengers side of the car under the hood there was a factory hole hidden, took some digging but, knocked out the plug, put a grommet in it and walla, power for the kl300p.
Thanks for the recommends !
