Texas Star DX 1600 X Mobile ----- Brand New I have this amplifier and use it as a base unit. It looks to be manufactured as a quality Texas Star is. I am currently using a 150amp power supply @ 14.5 volts to power it. Current meter has not peaked over 120 amps DC as of yet. With a 105 watt radio dead key, the amp dead keys at a little under 1400 watts, with no modulation. My typical operation is a 20 watt am dead key. On SSB, I run a radio that will swing up to 110 watts PEP, and the amp swings around 900 ~ 1200. I generally try to keep it under 1 kilowatt. It does have the DEI transistors in it. I do not care for them at all. I have a complete new set of Toshiba's for it, if, and when, I need them. For now, I am very satisfied with this amp. The cooling fan is quiet running, and does a good job cooling everything down when it does come on (thermally controlled). I do get a low SWR with this amp. I was a little surprised with that. Typically around 1.2 ~1.4 :1
