I bought this amp in 2013 and I've had it for 4 years now. I have to dispute Darwins review because This amp is Class AB and is excellent on SSB. If it has distorted sound it's because it's being over driven. If used accordingly this amp will provide nice clean audio on both AM and SSB.

BAD AMP************* This amp is honestly only decent on AM. SSB is very distorted and choppy. Look for something better such as a Class AB type of amp, or at least something that has biasing. Very disappointing amp for sideband. Buy cheap, get cheap. Cheers!

THIS IS A GREAT AMP FOR THE MONEY I GET 250 WATTS ON AM AND ABOUT 400 ON SSB WITH A 3 WATT AM DEAD KEY ON SSB ABOUT 14 WHATT SWING ITS GREAT FOR MY BASE I THINK I MIGHT GET 1 MORE FOR A SPAIR

Great performer ! ! ! Excellent preamp ! ! ! After 6 months of every day use I now have 2 of these.No bleed on the base unit keeps the neighbors happy !

Ive had this model for about 1.5 yrs now in my work truck and i cant believe how well it does! never had a problem and it really kicks butt, on my dosy and radio shack meter im getting about 300 clean watts out and 380 on SSB with 2watt dead key and 18watt swing and the kl-503 set to 4 on the knob going into a K40 helical antenna i plan o buying a few more of these models
