I have used moonraker6 and just about everything out there over the last 35 years. The A99 has preformed as good or better than any of them. FOR SKIP IT CAN'T BE BEAT FOR THE MONEY.its all I use now. They will take much higher peak watts than rated, just keep the key wattage down to about 20 on your kicker and let her swing. 36 to 40 feet high is awesome.

I have bought 3 A99 antennas through out my radio communication career.Great Antenna & cost

I bought my A-99 in 2003 and it's been a great antenna! I replaced the top element with a 102 inch steel whip and I believe it helps the TX quite a bit. I've talked all over the world with my RCI 2950 stock on a power supply in my house. I have the ground plain kit which I believe helps with DX (skip). The dbi gain is superior to other antennas which cost a lot more and are bigger. I have it about 10 feet above the peak of the roof and wala'.... I'd buy another in a heart beat... I'll be 10-6 on the side...

Great CB antenna for multiple applications! Being a 1/2-wave antenna it's ideal for in valley work to talk locally to CB'ers around you. Base to mobile of up to 25 miles is possible. For HAM works, the low gain characteristics work well (With an antenna tuner.) on 10M, 12M, 15M, and 17M. In a pinch it can work on 20M, but don't expect to be a DX flame thrower there. And international shortwave reception is good as well, about 15MHz. A general coverage shortwave radio will come to life with this antenna to hear HAM's, military, marine mobile, INT broadcasters, broadcast auxiliaries, and even pirate stations. A good all around antenna!

I bought my A-99 in 1990 when they were still made by Antron and it's still in use today on an antenna switch with three transceivers and one SDR receiver. It's almost 2015 now and it's been in use for nearly 25 years and although a bit faded, still works as good now as it did when I bought it. A lot of people don't like these antenna's but my A-99 has worked great over the decades and will happily buy another one if and when this one stops working. I originally purchased the ground plane kit (GPK-1) along with it but saw no improvement and subsequently sold it a few months later to another eager radio op who swore by them.
