dont let the price and the bad rap fool you this is a good ant. maybe the old ones did stink and yes the 9.9 db gain is a joke. id say more like 2 db maybe three, but i put my up it worked great good swr right out of the box no need to adjust it. seems to be built better than the old antron a99 i have seen. good price on copper too even with shipping it was less than my local ham / cb shop. hey copper throw in the ground plane kit and 50 ft of feed line make a package deal at a bit of a discount. vs. buying singe items and i bet these things would fly outta your stock room!

i have had this antenna for about 8 years now and i am more then happy with it. i bought it when i first started into radios and i will always stick with it. probably the best money i ever spend on a piece or radio equipment

The only problem I have had with the A-99 is that the fiberglass starts to deteriorate after about 10 years. The elements break it down. But they are so inexpensive that I would gladly put up another one to replace it. It costs more to place the thing way up high in a tree then it does to purchase it.

Ok some of you who live in a townhouse I am using a A-99 in my attic it is good on Dx-ing
It is better than a dipole
