I to had a 2970 an luved it. I talkd all over the place as well . the RCI 2970 and a willson 5000 are the best matched out of annything i have ever ran in my truck ... I have had a couple of RCI 2950s in the past an liked them realy well also an recntly got ahold of yet another one ad i ctill luv my RCIs !!!

this is an amazing radio. i converted it over to go from 26 MHz to 32 MHz. it keys 1 watt, and swings around 35 watts after some work. the audio is very nice and clean. i have talked thousands of miles on skip on AM with it. and straight line signal around 30 miles AM, and 60 side band. i turned the SWR button into talk back. wired an astatic road devil to it, and it works amazing. matches right up good. the best mic for it is an astatic 575. this radio is over all a great radio. works great as a base or mobile. i hook it up to a K-40 mobile antenna, and talk to the locals in my town half way down state with it. then base on a soalrcon A-99 base antenna(great ground plain for the price) with RG8/u coax. from a fellow ranger user to you, rabbit keying down in the lakes of michigan.

Excellent radio! Works well in my Jeep Cherokee The price of this product in good. The best antenna for the radio in mobile, wilson 1000 the best! XE2VOO
