Question: How much PEP wattage, assuming no more than a 1 watt carrier, will a 2x2290 amp handle before the onset of saturation and the generation of harmonic distortion? It is my understanding that 50 watts PEP (again, with a 1 watt input carrier) is the threshold before the amp begins to generate harmonics. I'd be appreciative if anyone has empirical data here? Many thanks... |

I was able to find some data after a lot of searching on the net. 1x2290 max input is 35 watts PEP; 2x2290 max input is 40 watts PEP before the onset of distortion. Posted for anyone who is searching for this data. |

The 2sc2290 transistor will produce 85 watts pep. Set your radio so they amp keys 50 watts or so. Hope this helps. As far as harmonic distortion, your amp is always producing harmonics. |

Thanks, I have it all dialed in. When under modulation, the SWR on the LP-100a doesn't budge a 100th. The scope looks good too. I've been good to go! |
