I have been doing some looking into the board on my VR9000 as myself and others have had a few questions about the radio and its other twins.I found on another site that listed the EPT3600 series boards and the VR9000 has a EPT 360014c board. It talks of removing 1 leg of R238 and doing the diode/res mod to it and rebiasing tr32 for bigger swing.I was wondering if this same mod will hold true for the VR9000? I myself have been trying to find out what radio is the twin,DX88 or the 3900 HP. If the board or board series is the same would that make most of the mods the same also? I would like to find some manuals or books on the different boards to learn more about them. I have looked on the box and everything that came with my VR9000 to find an address to write for a service manual but can`t seem to find any. |

I had just dug up the board for the 88,the 88 is a B and 9000 is a C. Would like to know what the difference between the 2 is? I guess I will try and contact RCI and see if the have a service manual on the 9000.Then I can dig into this thing and find out why mine acts like it does. |

Bank on it ,the only thing the "Diode-Resistor" trick does is flat top the sonusoidal looking pattern (Modulated RF output) When this happens , you create a sort of DC. When this happens you get spikes created within the DC. These spikes are about 120-150 Mhz. These are out of band spikes. Dosey meters and other meters of under $300 have a bandwidth of about 40 Mhz tops. Anything out of band will look really good. Thats it..LOOK good... 307 |
