Three things to test... 1) Is the TX light "on" without keydown? 2) Does the RX go away or get better with the RX pre-amp turned on? 3) Does the PL-259 "Center Pin" fit snug when hooking it up? 307 |

1)no,when i key it it comes on and when i talk into it it gets brighter.2)gets better but not like it should be,it picks up about 1 to 1 and 1/2 db with it on,last night i was going down the road and it was fadeing in and out now it seems worse.3)pl-259 are nice and tight. is it possible that the relay is dirty on the contacts,a dont have any faith in palomar anymore.everything looks nice as far as looks on the board,or is there a diode that works with the receive? thanks for your help. |

Jyd, I have a Palomar 100 that has been modified and the preamp does the same thing when switched on. I never use the preamp so I am not sure what it did before the mod. I just run mine in the off position. I do not know what is going on with mine either. Marconi |

I would guestimate the RX relay is broken. 307 |
