My Dm-452 recently started getting muffled during transmitting. Not sure what ohms the mic elements are in them. I replaced the mic element with a 500 ohm mic element and it sounds nice and clear again. Not sure why mic element went bad. HOLLOWPOINT- The Mic i tried on my RCI-2995dx was a Turner Landcom. All the adjustments in the world not going to make this mic sound good on my radio. Something may be wrong in the Mic. Those New Compression Mics from Coppers sound like there going to be a very nice mic. I will try one when they come in stock for sure.Looking forward towards a good desk mic. After i started running the DM-452, i tried switching back to my Silver Salute (off and on) and people told me i sounded like i was pinching my nose shut while transmitting. Tried adjusting Mic gain, but, no luck. I'm going to switch parts around inside the Mic until i find the sound i like. Experiment time! shut. |

I think the element in the DM-452 is electret. That means the element or actually cartridge is already amplified which is why they need voltage to function. Replacing it with another element is going to be a hit and miss proposition and depending on the element design it may be necessary to use a capacitor inline with the + side to keep the element from being damaged. You could just go to the shack and buy a replacement electret element or salvage one from a tape recorder, computer microphone, or the jillions of electronic devices that have electret microphones built into them. Are you a smoker? Tobacco smoke kills microphones by coating the element. That might explain your luck with microphones. |

I replaced the mic element with a 500 ohm element that looked the same as the one that was in there. It is very clear and works great,so, i will see what happens. JIM/PA/CEF 375

I replaced the Mic element also in my Silver Salute Desk Mic./ I used a mic element out of a Superstar stock mic. It's now sounding better than the original Salute mic element. This element matches my voice much much better and smoothed it out. 500 ohm mic element works great in my DM-452 mic. |

I know those d104 desk mics dont like heat. I left mine in the car in Georgia in the summer, windows up. The adhesive used in the mic element came unglued. I used a mic element from an old pair of aircraft headphones. Wildrat CEF674 |

I used the Silver Salute Desk mic on my RCI 2995dx. Then, i bought a DM-452 echo mic and all the locals said, i sounded better on it. Now, that i changed the mic element on the Silver Salute the locals say it sounds better than the Dm-452 now. I even tested it against my brand new Dm-452 which has the original mic element. Silver Salute still the favorite.
