I hear many automated transmissions out there. Radio shops..... Food Stops for truckers, Detail shops, too. They all broadcast on channel 19 and then tell you to go to channel ?? to speak to them. I know its a recording.. What equipment is needed to broadcast an automated message on a base unit, lets say every 20 minutes? And does Copper sell what is needed? |

Definitely not legal. Sec. 95.412 (CB Rule 12) What communications may be transmitted? (c) You may use your CB station to transmit one-way communications (messages which are not intended to establish communications between two or more particular CB stations) only for emergency communications, traveler assistance, brief tests (radio checks) or voice paging. Sec. 95.413 (CB Rule 13) What communications are prohibited? (5) To advertise or solicit the sale of any goods or services; |

You may know this but I'll chime in first... Sorry. It is illegal, if you do run any power any annoy anone you are a sitting duck.... If you don't run power and annoy someone you are a sitting duck.... But there are many digital recorders out there that can be manipulated to repeat. You just have to find a way to key. It is legal to use a digital playback device to relay message (I believe), you finger just has to be on the key and not have to be classified as a noisemaker. For example there is a guy that is trying to do a highway altert thing by taping amber aletrts etc. to be relayed to truckers. This is to be non annoying (like once an hour) and to help save a life. But the lady around here offering (truck interior cleanings) is getting old. Chad |

Here is the rule ..... It WOULD be leagal to retransmit under some cases .... Sec. 95.413 (CB Rule 13) What communications are prohibited? (a) You must not use a CB station-- (1) In connection with any activity which is against federal, state or local law; (2) To transmit obscence, indecent or profane words, language or meaning; (3) To interfere intentionally with the communications of another CB station; (4) To transmit one-way communications, except for emergency communications, traveler assistance, brief tests (radio checks), or voice paging; |

An amateur license gives you no special privileges on Citizen's Band. The rule is clear - if you are soliciting business it's not permitted. |

Its really got out of hand in and around Indianapolis and is why I detest even using ch 19 unless I have to. On just the south end of Indy all the way down to Columbus is 3 cb shops daily advertise, 3 truck washes every 10 minutes,2 xxx movie salesman every 5 to 10 minutes, the Meatman every 10 minutes, the Toolman every 5 minutes, Fleamarket every 10 minutes, truck oil change company every 10 - 20 minutes, assortment of prostitutes male and female, the truck cleaning lady, the beef jerky lady ( ligit, best beef jerky in the world), and finally an assortment of passers through with everything from styro-foam gas cans to DVD rewinders for sale. You can buy anything on channel 19. I' ve heard guys selling Semmi trucks, hand guns, fuel, radios, phones, stolen cigarettes, stolen everything, dogs, cats, rats, ferrets, computers by the truck load. Sometimes they are giving stuff away! Whats the FCC gonna do? NOTHING! Its so easy to bust these guys a mooron could find them. 19 is for important road info and these guys are interfering with the main reason why drivers use 19. Always wanted to gripe about this so hey thats my 10 cents worth! 73 |

Unfortunately, it is unlikely that the FCC will do anything about the illegal advertising on "CB". For the most part, they just consider "CB" to be a failed experiment...and aren't inclined to devote very much, if any, of their limted resources to clean up the long out of control mess on the 27 mhz "CB" channels. |
