I hate this auto squelch on the RCI-2970 who
knows how to kill it i use SSB not AM/FM and
i do talk to the ducks mud ducks that is. |

Can you turn the autosquelch off like on the 2510? I've had several 2950's and dx models...don't remember seeing that feature/creature |

Is the radio a 2970dx model? if so it is a manual switch to adjust it.
I dont know about the older 2970 model.

I looked the 2970 up on the net and it also has a manual sqelch. |

Here is a link to RangerUSA.com: If you look at the .pdf file it shows how to adjust the SSB squelch internally. I don't know if this is the model you have or if it works. You may want to call Ranger or Email them.

If all else fails bring it some where that has a real radio tech. and not a wannabee and for a few bucks they will fix it.

SSB squelch was set way to high just went thu.
it tonite also found AM freq was 1.7Khz high
and no one had made a fuss about that. I use
SSB most of the time what power hand mic do
you guys like best on the 2970. A friend found
a ratty stock one for me to get the up/down
switchs from i'll install them in the power
mic got a 7 wire cord in junk box.
