5 ga? assuming it's a 4 transistor or smaller amp, 6 guage is OK. tapping into amps' power cable is not a preferred method, straight to the battery is better, but it beats the cigarette lighter method. the 148 probably doesn't draw more then a couple amps, so if it's fused & well wrapped, go for it. make sure amp cable is fused near battery as well. |

can a fatboy 4-pill damage the computer on my freightliner if I wire it to the battery box, it has 4 batteries. Also what gauge wire do I use? It looks like 8ga coming out of the box but isnt it better to go thicker? |

Red_roller, On our 2000 Pete 379 and 2000 KW L900 that we still own and lease out we ran 6 ga direct from the battery box straight up thru the floor for the driver's radio's and accessories. Both driver's use the Texas Star 667's with 1-2SC2290 driving 4-2SC2879's in them. We have never had any problem's with the truck's computer's. As for the fatboy & freightliner I cannot say for sure so I would highly suggest contacting your local freightliner dealer. Hope this help's, Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9CEF CVC#2 |

Hawkeye, This is how I hook my amp and radio to the battery. It has connections for the cars sidepost connections and I use the top posts for my radio and amp. The quick connectors work great, look neat and hold tight! Whenever I have to give someone a jump or work on the engine its really easy to diconnect my exspensive gear for safety precautions. |
