The past couple of weeks a couple of people say they hear me on their cell phones. I have seen this on other types of electronic devices but not cell phones. Anyone seen this problem before? WILDRAT MARK 27.285MHZ CEF674 CVC029

WRat, I have not heard of this but the book for my cell tells me it is a Part 15 device. In other words - if something interferes with it tough luck in the eyes of FCC. Heck how would you fit a filter to a cell phone anyway? Simon Tech237 KD7IEB

Cool Beans! So as long as I am running a legal Station I'm alright. Thanks Simon! I offered the guy help if he was having problems. All he wants to do is try and key up every time someone tries to talk to me and curse at me. I have a pretty good idea who it is. There are not to many new york nuts that live across the street. Every body thinks I'm nuts. They keep saying Rat who are you talking too? They can't hear the nut case. WILDRAT MARK 27.285MHZ CEF674 CVC029

I found the excerpt in my cell phone book, I guess the guy did not read the fine print. Here is what mine says: "This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must except any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation." That's it! WILDRAT MARK 27.285MHZ CEF674 CVC029

I think the cell guy is a liar. Totally different frequency spectrum. I have cell, right under my antenna and can key 100 watts HF and no problems. If the cell guy complains about it any more, tell him to get a ham radio! CEF 655 HAM 225 ARRL Member

I don't think it's any thing to do with frequency and more to do with pure unadulterated RF getting into the cell phones little speaker. I think I'll let them know they can put a toroid filter on the phone but they will have to cut a hole in their phone so it will fit. WILDRAT MARK 27.285MHZ CEF674 CVC029

Yes, I've seen it happen. I was parked next to a friend one night who was on his cell while I was on the radio. He rolled down his window and ask me to stop. It may have been because we were so close, but it can happen. |
