505, I'm sure you know the KLV is a tube base and the Texas Star is a transistor mobile. Both are good amps. Although I have never used the DX1000v I have used many other Texas Star amps and in my opinion you can't get much better a class ab-1 mobile amp. If you drive the amp how your supposed to with a properly alighned radio your going to get good output that sounds great. Is the Texas Star better than the KLV? All that is a matter of personal opinion and I feel that both companies make a very good product.

both good amps.the dx1000v will require more
drive than the klv1000.so imho really depends
on the radio ya hook up to it.a 2970 or similar
will blow the klv1000 into pieces.but a radio
that has only 12watts pep will make the klv very happy.the dx1000v to my best of knowledge needs
100watt driver.amp or radio

What do you think guys? If 505 was going to use the DX1000 as a base amp he is probably going to need a power supply with at least 100 amps constant, 150 amps to be certain it works well. OH! Also a seperate power supply for the radio so that the voltage keeps steady At least a 50 amp supply for an RCI 2970.Or a single final radio with its own P.S. driving a 100 watt driver box. I would use the Magnum S9-80 watt to drive this box, really do not need to pound every last watt out of the DX1000 and with the Magnum I bet it would sound really nice, of course any similar radio would sound choice also!

I have a Boomer 600 w/ a Galaxy Pluto. As far as I know it gets out very well for the hilly country where I live. A friend matched it up for me & my friends say it sounds great.
Now my dilemma...I put my SWR meter on it & now I'm SCARED. My SWR w/ a barefoot radio is 1.2 but, w/ Boomer on I did a few different checks. Am I doing this wrong ?? I checked between the Boomer & antenna w/ Boomer off 1.2 SWR. Now if I check between the Pluto & Boomer the SWR is over 4.0 am I worrying over nothing or am I about to burn up my Pluto? All reports I am getting say the radio & box sound great so is this just stray RF giving my meter a bad reading?

Did you re-calibrate the swr meter when you checked it with the amp on? If you did re-calibrate then it is most likely the amp. The antenna is fine. Don't bother trying to tune it again. Many cb amps are not filtered well.
Most likey the amp is transmitting 27mhz (as it is supposed to) and a freq around 56mhz which is the 2nd harmonic. Your antenna is tuned for 27mhz so it will not allow energy at around 56 mhz to be transmitted and is reflected back down to your radio resulting in a high swr reading. You lose a bit of power in that 2nd harmonic.
To help fix this problem you can make sure the radio is properly tuned by a PROFESSIONAL and be certain that the input your running into the amp is good, a little goes a long way. Only other thing you can do and is ussually the only thing you can do is to add a very good low pass filter at the amp housing. Some people like to install a filter on the radio and the amp. Don't use a jumper, attach it directly to the transmitter chassis. good luck

Sure, Some of the best low pass filters are made by ICE, Nye Viking and Drake. A few others out there but try to stay away from the cheap stuff.
Sometimes you can find these at swaps or flea markets used. The old ones are really good and sometimes hard to find. Look for one made by ICE, probably just about the best being made today and reasonably priced.73
