Which of these would be the better radio for base operation? (I have a 15 amp 12VDC supply). I like the features and large meter of the Galaxy, as well as the good mods out there for them. But I've seen several posts complaining about drift in SSB. One local has a 949 he uses mostly on AM and it doesn't sound all that great, but he overdrives the tar out of it, so that's not a fair test.

Thanks.

I know this is an old post, but with that said I would say 949 or 959 handsdown. I think that they are good radios and I have not had any drift problem at all. Maybe someone had their "golden screwdrivers" where they shouldn't have.
