The receiver amp works fine but the power/transmit circuit just squeels when I key up. I can transmit fine with the power off. My radio is a Uniden and I've run power direct from battery with 14ga. wire. I have schematics and parts list. Any ideas? Thanks.

start with swr's, then check radio output. TS should be fine with swr's under 2:1(though cutting into longevity possibly) & dead key should be under 4 watts. both together being high could cause trouble as well. also could be jumper cable problem; too short, no good, etc.

After you check everything he suggested, if you still have the problem. Ground the amp to the vehicle with a short wire. 12 or 14 gauge is fine. You can use a screw on the cover if you like. Make the wire no longer that 12inches. Make sure your radio is grounded through the mount. Make sure you didn't mount it to plastic. If it isn't grounded, put a short wire on it too.
Also don't use those armored microphone cables.
Put clamp on chokes or one of coppers filters on amp and radio leads. Make sure you amplifier leads and radio leads aren't cut to a reasonant length like 102"

And if your antenna sees the mike cable solder a .01 cap across the audio and shield at mike socket and inside the mike.Bigbob

Good idea bigbob, just check your audio quality afterwards, sometimes that will attenuate the highs.

All right, thanks. It'll probably take me a little while to test all of that but I'll get back with the results.
