Before my I-Max goes up, would it be a good idea beacause of the intensity of the sun down here in Florida to paint the antenna with some resin to help further protect the antenna from the damaging rays of the sun?
I was thinking of going to West marine to see if they had a UV additive to put in the resin.
What do you all think?
Will it affect the antenna operation in any way?

It is a good idea to shoot some clear paint on it before it goes up. Adding resin is not adviseable for many reasons.
Before you paint the antenna, make sure to remove all oils and mold release waxes with acetone or similar. Clean it several times. Then, spray some gloss clear on it and that will prolong its life. |

Blitz that brillant idea. Clear paint is easier anyway, any particular brand?

Wildrat,
Any NON-METALLIC spray paint in a can that can be used on Fiberglass will work.
Stop by your Local Auto Parts store and they will be able to tell you what you need.
Be sure to VERY LIGHTLY sand the gloss coat of the Imax before applying new paint.

I think fine steel wool would be safe to use on it as a paint-prep, what say you, Lon? |

I went and got some 2000 grit paper,spray adhesion promoter, and the clear coat. I lightly sanded it, sprayed with adhesion promoter, then sprayed with two coats of automotive clear coat.
