I have this radio, i'm wondering if it will be ok. to run a dead key of around 9 watts on this radio. I don't run amps ever, i don't even own an amp. I just don't want to hurt anything. it has a single 1969 in it. |

it would help if we knew what radio you had, but 9 watts dead key from a 1969 is too much assuming that you are reaching 100% modulation. i would keep it to about six watts on the dead key. and remember that you have to upgrade parts all down the line when you increase the power that much. you should also add a heatsink near the final. matt |

i'm just gettin 20 watts on swing. I've talked on it for about an hour straight. Nothing was getting hot. A copper tech on the phone told me i should be okay so long as i have low s.w.r. they are less than 1:1, so i think it's all good. |
