Well now I find it to be, if you have the bottom case off and the control knobs facing you. It is just about in the lower right corner, between and behind the microphone gain and the volume/squalch control. Just a little to the left of an adjustment trimmer and to the right of Q-24. I know that on my Grant XL the Q-24 area is under a wiring harness. The R-124 resistor should be a 5.6 K ohm at 1/6 watt.
I have the factory shop service manual for the Grant XL and the Sams Photofacts for the Cobra 148 GTL. These two manuals give all the information any one would ever need to work on the likes of these radios. Good luck!!

component side up, knobs facing you:

look in the front right corner of the PC board.
find VR3. directly behind VR3 you will find R126.
directly to the left of that will be R124.

just so you know sporthd899, i dont usually do this mod to my radios.
seems to make the radio very susceptible to squealing when coupled with other mods.

and remember, there is no reason to do this R126,124 mod if you are not going to remove TR24 or at least add a 1K resistor to the middle leg.
you will just be making TR24 work harder otherwise.
