I am looking at getting a KL-500 from Copper... A few questions.

#1 - would it need to be converted? If so, what's the steps?
#2 - what is the optimal and max dead key to put into these amps?
#3 - what is the max swing you want to put into these amps?

Thanks in advance!

747,

#1 ~ NO it will not need to be converted if you purchase it from Copper Electronics.

#2 ~ Input power:1-4 Watts (It is a LOW Drive Amplifier) and I would recommend 3 to 3-1/2 watts Input.

#3 ~ I would suggest 10 to 12 swing as you have 6 power level's to use.

I've had a KL-500 since for about 6 years. When I bought mine they were about $100, if that tells ya how old it is, lol. Anyway, I love mine, and I am sure you will too. It has run flawlessly. I've ran it hooked into a cigarette lighter and directly to the battery like it is now. My dead key is 1.25 watts on my Cobra 148 GTL and this amp really sings. My radio swings about 20. It comes through my speakers in my truck, as well as the other cars around me and my house if I use it at home!

Hope this helps,

I take it that Copper still price matches online competitor's prices? One of your competitors has a special this week that I would like to take advantage of, but get it from Copper since the last time I ordered from the other guy they charged me 3 times and shipped the same item 3 times... 3 seperate orders - one week apart from each other!

Call 1-800-626-6343 and ask for Customer Service. Let them know where the other place is and once they verifies the price and that they have it in stock we will beat that price.

One other question - I've seen the KL-500 advertised with a black heatsink, and with a red heatsink.. Which one is the most current shipping with?

Black. I've seen the pictures of the red one, but never seen one in person. I've probably seen 10 KL-500's in person...all black.

I had a KL500. If it has 4x1446 pills in it, wouldnt it be considered a "Straight 4"? There is no driver pill. SO, why would the maximum input wattage only be 4 watts?
