Hello. I was wondeing if the PDL 2 runs the gammas that are the long ones or the short ones? I have a guy that wants some parts for a PDL 2 and all i have are the moonraker gammas. Will the moonraker gammas work on a PDL 2? |

No. The PDL uses what Avanti called the 'orbital gamma match'. |

RE 833... However, if he were to convert the feed system to an isolated loop true quad config and feed it with a qtr wave matching section of 70 ohm the band width of the loading element would be much greater then that of the Gamma Match. The only modification that he would have to do would be to devise some manner to isolate the loading element loop from the boom elements. If he could get an extra set of fibberglass arms this would be ideal. What I did was to just cut up some small sections of plastic PVC pipe from some scrap I had and stuck them on the ends of the metal extension arms. Not exactly pretty but it worked. (Chuckle) I made a PDL2 into a three element quad by splicing two booms together, moving the mast attacing brace to the new center and adding the third element to the end of the new extension (5% shorter than the loading element). It worked great. BUT a nasty hurricane came along and well lets just say I had to pick up the antenna off of the ground in pieces. So goes the antenna v wind wars! |
