i have a cobra 142 gtl it powers up, but it tx on 26.295 on all channels, and if you keep it keyed up it will slowly rise up in frequency???????????????????
can anybody help?

Sounds like the VCO needs an adjustment or a possible problem with the PLL or crystal or associated parts,sounds more like VCO problem though.

thanks robert,,,i will try that,,just asked a friend and he thinks might be pll too.
pll was changed from 8737 to 8719

ok , i tryed a new pll chip,,same thing but now it tx on 27.315 on all channels,,is there anything else i can try without bringing it to a tech? techs are hard to find around here. THANKS

Still sounds like a bad VCO coil,try adjusting the coil and see if it helps if not try replacing it with another.I had the same thing happen with a Realistic and I found the VCO was bad.

do you rember where the vco is? is it L14?

come to think about it ,, I have a realstic {TRC 490}with the same board in my shack with the same problem....Hummmmmmmmmm
