I have an old Galaxy Saturn Turbo that I enjoy even though she is getting a bit old and tired. Supposedly this thing has Talk Back but you sure can't hear it. I tried hooking up a Tack Back speaker, the kind with one plug for the external speaker and one plug for the PA slots but it won't work either. Any of you have an idea how I can get that external talk back speaker to work or how to increase the volume of the existing talk back or maybe even put in a volume control for it. Adding a talk back board with volume control is an option I guess but I am not very radio literate so it would have to be something pretty easy to do. Maybe disconnect the existing talk back so the external talk back speaker will work as I would like to keep the radio face clean and keep things simple. OK, OK I know a lot of folks don't like the Talk Back feature on radios but I have gotten very accustomed to them and kinda like them. Sure would appreciate some help. I know Tech 808 has one of these radios - Any ideas? Sinker CEF-634

Sorry Timbo, I can't help on either count. Have had zero to do with Galaxy radios and as far as talk back goes....well. I have had the misfortune to actually hear my own voice.....oooh boy. Mate i must have the worst voice on the planet so i feel sorry for anyone out there that can hear it let alone hearing it myself. Cheers cobber. CEFFFCEF Bob CEF703/CVC26

From talking with some folks it sounds as though maybe only a wire needs to be clipped to allow for the external talk back speaker to be hooked up and work. I can't even find an on-line copy of the schematics for this radio though.

Tim get a 100 ohm 1 watt resistor and on the inside of the radio solder one end to the EXT SP jack and the other end to the PA jack. Do this on the solder side of the board. This works on about 75% of all radios Good luck and hope this helps you. George CEF#Ø476 KI4NBE Amateur Extra HAM#Ø181 CVC#ØØ14
