the crystal seems to be cold natured and dont seem to want to warm up,can heat it up with a iron but i dont want to do that just to keep it on frec.is there another one i can replace it with.

You can call 1-800-JAN-XTAL and get a temperature compensated crystal replacement for about 20 bucks..they work great..
