I have the new 2995 dx that has the smaller transformer and mosfets. My question is how can you disable the amp in this radio to make it a straight radio, to drive a solid state amp that is not a high drive? Then when you are not using the external solid state amp, switch it back to the 2995 amp. In short a switch mod for the amp. Does anyone know or have this information?

Dale, I have a 500v but I also have other amps that I like to use from time to time. Sometime II like to switch out amps between my truck and base when I am on the road. It would make it more convient when I use my equipment this way. There was a switch mod for the amp on the older 2990 dx ,but I do not think it would be the same and I can not find this information on the 2995 dx. That was a good idea Dale and I thank you for your response to my question.

I did a temp. bypass from the radio output (not the amp) to the antenna and found out that the 2995 dx will only put out a couple of watts. I wass glad that I did not install any switches for this mod would be a wast. I also found out that the new 2995 dx has one final less than a regular 2950 dx or the 2985 dx. This could be why the low output from the radio itself. So, my advice would be to forget the bypass mod of this radio. If anyone has any other information that is better or different, let me know.
