i would like to know how tho get this sound u have probably have heard what i am talking about from one of them guys on ch.6 when they key it sounds like they run a power mic across the front of the radio to get that funky feedback type squeal, but i think this is a somehow manufactured sound?? (not talking about the ping) any help would be greatly appreciated i have been trying to get this for years and now i come to you!

there were noise toys around that pretty accurately duplicated the 'browning ping', which wasn't really a ping, but a squeal, from feedback from the transmitter through the separate receiver. browning actually did NOT intend that to happen, but CBers loved it so much, they INCREASED the amount of feedback by changing the filter capacitor value to get what they wanted. the same squeal can be made using other separate xmtr/rcv radios of days gone by. feedback from a talkback is another current favorite, varying the mic's distance from the speaker. my ic746pro in 'monitor' mode can be persuaded to do the same if i so desired.

Are you sure they aren't using a mic called the screaming Eagle?

Stareface the screaming eagle was the pet name for the browning radios that produced this wonderful noise!

feedback from a talkback is another current favorite, varying the mic's distance from the speaker. OR, you could spend $500 on a used browning mk3-4-4a and another few hundred to get it in tip top shape & have the REAL DEAL.
doing as 808 stated above, i located at least 10 different places that CLAIM to have a noise toy that mimics the browning ping. does it REALLY sound like the browning ping? who knows. try spending the $25-$200 on the modules/systems & see what you get.....or go with the real thing.

I run and have run eagles for 20 years. I tried one of these noise toys in a 2980 did work till I ran it in a amp then it made amp go crazy. took it out and sold the whole mess. If you want that sound get some eagles.
