ok i was walking through the local auto boneyard looking for a part for my truck when i come across a car with an antenna on the roof... my curiosity got the best of me i had to see if there was a radio still attached to the antenna coax...thats where i found this GE 3-5819B in a custom enclosure with the original stock mic it is in great condition but it does not transmit or receive

everything lights up but when i key the mic the modulation light comes on and registers that i am talking into the mic however the needle doesnt move and the radio doesnt actually transmit my voice ...and there is no sound from the speaker and the needle doesnt move at all when i key up my base on the desk next to this radio

the radio doesnt seem to have been messed around with but it does show a few signs of possibly getting wet at some point in time ...

I have seen radios that when the final shorts out that the radio will light up but not hear anything on receive.

try disconnecting the final and test it with a ohm meter.

while the final is disconnected (make sure none of the solder pads are shorted by melted solder) hook the radio up and see if the final being disconnected restores receive.
