Afternoon: This is my first post, so please bear with an o'll timer. Stonewall jackson, was listening to the radio today and herd a small air noise sound and when i keyed up the radio to talk there was no dead key watts or SWR reading. But when i did modulate into the Mic the watts would climb to 30 Mod to 50% and SWR did move. People said i sounded like i was on sideband or FM. This radio is 1 year old and not played with. I bought it new. If you could please help me. Thank you for your time. SteveTonka |

Something went Pfffft? did you get a slight smell as well? maybe an electrolytic capacitor went?? Look inside and see if you spot a small metal can either bulged or "liquid surrounding it on the board....... Alles ist besser mit Soße! No I'm not a Tech,I just know enough to be a nuisance.

Steve, is the radio still under warranty? Some manufacturers give more than a year. Try disconnecting the amp stage to see if it still runs on it's own final. Like Funtime bob says it could just be a capacitor, if it is in the 10v range, replacement with 25-35v will be more reliable. Pressman/KC4ZWM

Evening: I just wanted to touch base with everyone on this post. I was voltage checking the radio on the bench and for some reason i bumped vr-13 ( AM Power ) And Mr. Stonewall was back in business. Must have been just a dirt spot on the control. Thank you all for your time and i hope to return the favor. stevetonka KD8ROD |
