Well I retired my Galaxy Saturn and had to kick it up a notch...I just purchased a RCI 2995. First I was wondering what the difference was between the 2995 compared to the 2995DX. If there are any owners of the 2995 how do you guys like them. Also, is there RF knob on these rigs that can turn down wattage on SSB. I don't plan on running full power all of the time. I'm afraid of some TVI. One other thing, is a fankit a must on these monsters????? Any info from you guys would be appreciated....Thanks |

Snapperhead, I have the 2995DX Peaked & Tuned and love it. The extra fan kit? in my opinion the fan kit is a MUST! these radios do get WARM! I have never had problems with TVI even on full power. http://www.copperelectronics.com/cgi-bin/checkitout/checkitout.cgi?catalogSTORE:CKIE:prodR10-10130+ Hope some of this will help. Lon tech808 |

TV Interference has more to do with modulation than with wattage. I can bleed more nearby stuff with a barefoot (20w PEP) radio with a clipped limiter and lotsa mike gain, than I will with my Galaxy Turbo set to 100% modulation or less, swinging 130W. PEP. Of course, turning up the audio will change that. How you run it has as much influence on interference as the model number of the radio, OR the power it offers. Let me be blunt about the fans: Without them it is, in a word, SUICIDAL !!! Has to have them. 73 |

Snapperhead, I run a RCI 2990DX which is almost the same radio as your's, I put the fan kit on mine and it stays nice and cool. You should spend the extra $50.00 give or take and get the fan kit, it will be money well spent! |
