Several of my friends and myself have had our radios tuned at the local CB shop and when we get the radios bach either the LSB or USB has a 2.5-3.5 watt carier can you tell me how to tune or correct this problem I have a Saturn and my friends both have Malakas, oh no parts have been replaced or altered. Again thanks for your help,Jake.

The Sideband Carrier Balance was probably messed with. Put it on LSB or USB and adjust VR-7 for minimum power output.

Boy, sure sounds like it was set up by another 'wattmeter worshipper'. I'll bet the slugs in L26,L27 and L28 were set by wattmeter, and not with a frequency counter, like the directions state. I don't think you can get quite that much carrier by mis-setting VR7 alone. I'm pretty sure you have to get the carrier crystal off frequency to get two or more watts.

Most likely you are correct , the fastest way to check is VR-7 , If that don't do it , then alignment is gonna' be needed..More $$$$

307 thanks for the info, adjusting vr7 worked for my friends but not for me. I would like to get your opinion on what type/name of 6/7 digit freq meter to get that works both internaly and externaly for the cost of around $40.oo or so, I would appreciate your input and advice. Thanks for all of your help.Jake.
