I have a Yaesu FT 101 E later model. I was talking to a friend that asked me if mine had an AM filter on it? When you take the top off of the 101 E there is a SSB filter, then in front of that, there is a small 1" X 1" black square box with 4 pins,... there is nothing there that says AM filter so I guess mine does not have one? Where can I get one? Ebay,...oh NO! XLAXX |

You can get them new but they are about $100. I saw some made by International Radio at the local ham shop. You might put a "want ad" in on some of the ham sites that have classifieds. |

The 101 has room on the far-left front plug-in board for two filters. The factory wired the top (empty) slot to be active on CW mode. Just bolting a filter meant for AM in there won't do the whole job. International Radio still lists the FT101 AM filter for $105 plus S&H. Yaesu stopped selling the "XF30B" AM filter almost ten years ago. To make the second (top) filter slot active on AM receive instead of CW requires some rewiring on the rear of the Mode switch. I'm pretty sure International Radio includes instructions to do this part of the installation. 73 |
