How do I go about opening up my clairifier on my cobre 146 GTL? What does it do? Does it mean that I won't have to tune my voice lock on people any more or that I just have more range on my voice lock? Sorry for being so stupid, not realy tech savy when it comes to radio electronix talk. Thanks.

Yes you would have more range if mod setup properly. The advantage is that the mod changes your transmit frequency to track with receive. Such that when you have someone tuned in ok you should also sound on centre to them. 5 - 10 kc slide is quite easy to obtain.If you still want the mod I can post it here later.

cheers

1.remove D32
2.lift white wire from clarifier at pcb
3.connect lifted end white wire to 8v source
4.jump R415 ie put link in parallel
5. fit inductor 5.6uh in series with D25 (varactor)(change D25 to superdiode for superange) anode to ground for increased range.
tune-up;
L16 - am
L17 - usb
L18 - lsb
