I am getting ready to send this radio for repair , but wondered if anyone might have idea of anything to check before I do . I checked it out this evening -- it will receive up to a half to 3/4 mile . Any ideas appreciated |

I'll assume you already compared the SSB receive to the AM side. If there is a BIG difference between them, that would narrow things down some. The receiver in the 2000 does not routinely do this. If it fails, there is a good reason. A golden screwdriver is a good reason. If you have NEVER seen it receive properly, that's a possibility. If it was working okay and then quit, something in the radio has failed. Even if you can troubleshoot the failure, you'll need to replace whatever has failed to find out if you were right. The troubleshooting is never really done until you see it work correctly again. Without some basic test equipment, there isn't a whole lot you (or I) can discover about the cause of a (partly) deaf receiver. If something goes COMPLETELY dead, that may be a problem that simple tools will track down. A problem that makes the radio 'weak', but not dead is a lot harder to track down, usually. 73
