i want to adjust the signal needle because nobody moves it past the 4 mark not even my nieghbor who lives about 200 ft from me. i need to know what to adjust for this. the radio is a ranger 2985dx.is there a way to do this easily?.

Most of these radio's signal needle can be adjusted by gently turning VR-1 for am and VR-2 forSSB. It's not a difficult task. Use a screwdriver that fits the slot. It would be nice if someone in your area would talk or just tune in to a local talking. I like strong meter signals myself. However, only someone in your yard should give you a 60 over 9db signal. When you turn VR-1 note where it was in the first place in case this doesn't change the reading. What I'm giving you is an educated guess, but I'm 95% sure.

It's a very easy adjust. Just make sure
your on the correct pot. They should be
marked inside to what they are.
Also remember if its a newer radio and you
break the seal on the case of the radio,
it may no longer be under warranty.
