There are schematics listed in the files section of Yahoos' Cobra_2000 Owners Group. You will need to sign up. I haven't looked at them to see how good of quality they are. |

ok I hate to start a new thread just to find this out so I won't. Does N-E-Body know the specs for the lights in the 2000gtl? a bunch of mine burned out, I fig. that they are 12v, just wondering the c.p.(candle powr.) rating, and life expectency. I am considering using Christmas bulbs w/ resistors. Thanks sg569 |

I'd use white LEDs instead of bulbs because they're so inexpensive now. If you get the resistor value correct they'll last a long, LONG time. |

as long as you just need the radio portion and not the cabinet schematic you can go to ranger and get the tr296 schematic for it and the cobra 148 is the same . just will not have the freq counter and cabinet mods.hope this helps |

When I had the 2000GTL I replaced some of the lamps in it and used the regular 12 volt grain of wheat lamps from Radio Shack. Don't know the C.P. but the 12 volt lamps will work and some Radio shack stores carry a few different colored lamps. Although I would keep the Radio original with the clear lamps, the radio keeps it's resale value much better with the original lamps. This is only my own opinion on replaceing with the clear lamps, As all the Cobra 2000 and older 148 GTLs, as well as the Uniden Grant XL and LT have become collector pieces in high demand and high dollar for a like new radio, box and packageing included. My Grant XL is close to 6 years old now and I have the box and owners manual still in the plastic put away. Carl CEF-357 |

Sonoma, I never knew about the 296 being so similar to the 2000. And as far as schematic legibility, the one on Ranger doesn't get much better than that. Thanks for the tip! |
