Can some one tell me what the cause may be . I get reports that on side band of a intermittent squeal. but on AM there is none, thanks. I have a royce 642 base with a hand held d-104. |

your base is old. get a can of contact cleaner and spray it on all the switches and potentiometers while switching them back and forth and turning the knobs back and forth. this will clean off all the old carbon deposits inside these parts. try that first and see if it works. |

I really doubt it's a dirty pot causing a squeal. Try turning down the gain on your microphone and turning it up on the radio. And only use enough gain on the mic to get the radio swinging on SSB. |
