Well...the rig I had had problems... one of the crystals went bad in it for channel 1 - 5 - 9 etc . the recieve varied from weak tubes ( I was told it had 5 tubes just for the receiver )..set the "s - meter " and 10 minutes later it would be erratic...reset...again in about 5-10 minutes. This was after it had been powered up for OVER 24 hours.... It talked great...talked 40 miles to another base on ground plane ..weak signal but best audio he said I had ever had. Plus he said I didnt sound like I had chewing tobacco in my mouth, easy to understand every word I said. I know, I know it has 23 channel receiver built in so I didnt need the crystals part any way, but with the RX acting like it did ..plus a thick layer of dust all on top and inside entire rig, I knew it would cost quite a bit to clean and align...so I sold it. Man who bought it fixes up old radios and resells them, he said the cabinet was in excellent condition for its age. But THANKS to all who contributed and tried to help in this situation. Now there IS a thread with " tram d - 201 " listed and some one that gets one in the future and needs info can just come here and it is ready for them. Robert |
