Several years back (when I was an apprentice) I recall using what I guess was a diplexor to connect a BC radio to the same antenna as a commercial VHR two-way.
Does anyone knnow of an available deive that would work to connect the AM/FM radio to the same antenna as the 2m mobile. Once again space for an antenna on the MGB is limited.
Would a standard diplexor sold to use with 706 work? |

Iknow that such devices are out there for cbs although performance is pretty terrible. Why not just get a glass mount antenna for your 2 meter Ive been very happy with mine. I know yor MGB is probably a convertable, but there is no reason yoou can't mount it in the top corner of the wind shield.

Simon a duplexer should work,just make sure that you read closely to see that it works in the ranges you need.As there are many types.
I know that a MGB is small,but a Comet CF 360A is about the size of a pack of smokes. And it will work. |

BC - Have you ever seen an MGB windscreen?? It is so small it uses 10" wiper blades. I had thought about using one of them but a mock up should that it would really not look good, whereas I can mount a 2m 1/2 wave in the existing AM/FM antenna hole and use it for both. Plus it is not such a give away that there is a radio in a convertible. |

Milkman21218 & Bruce are BOTH 100% CORRECT! 
It is a Duplexer and it is about the size of a pack of smokes and should solve your problem and they are about $50.00.
Comet CF-360A:
Duplexer 1.3-30/49-470Mhz
The CF-360A Duplexer is for transmitting and receiving 1 - 30Mhz and 50Mhz (or 144 & 433Mhz) at the same time. Combined High quality filters help to prevent TVI.

Tech808 the spec actually show why I was querying if one of these would work. The HF would cover the AM side, fi fed to the AM/FM Radio but would it allow the FM signals thru? |

It is not the mode that maybe the problem but the fact I need to push a 88-108MHz signal thru the side designed for 1 -60 MHz. |

No.
Antenna Specialist makes an AM/FM splitter for BC bands and either VHF or UHF. I do not know the cost and (per Copper rules) cannot post a link. Google it. |

Thanks for that information. I'll chase that up. I knew they used to exist but havent had a need to use one for around 20 years and was not sure if they still did exist. |
