don't ever remember seeing a formac 40, but they had several export models that used the pll02a-LONG TIME AGO. maybe EARLY 80's. seem to remember them being am/fm only.

been along time since i saw 'em sean. don't really remember the export as being all that impressive. think it was 80 channels am/fm. to be honest with you, i didn't even know they made an AM only radio!

I haven't put it on a meter or anything, but one of dad's friends said whenever he heard it, it sounded like a peaked 29 with a good power mic...the formac just has a rk56 on it....either way, just thought I'd throw it out there...if anyone else has heard of em or used one, let me know...I just like old radios

has the PLL02A PLL in it.
should be very similar to any other PLL02A am only radio.

this chassis was never really known for loud audio, and didnt respond real well to having the limiter clipped.
gets kinda muffled.

they were known to be easy to get channels on, but im not sure about the AM only models.

no SAMS for this specific model, but again, is probably similar to lots.
matt
anyone wanting a "clean signal", just look to the left and build one of these!!!

thanks, nice to know which pll it uses, gives me somewhere to start lookin...although, this one may be odd if they aren't known for loud audio because mine is louder and clearer at 9watts with an RK56 than my well tuned 29 is at 14watts with a D-104....I haven't opened it up and prolly won't, so I don't know if the limiter is clipped or not
