yes it will work.howeever if ya plan on using
talkback on the radio youll probaly experience
feedback thru your speaker.this is very common
with radios with talkback and power mikes.this
is the only reaSON i didnt reccomend the mike
now if ya run the gain on the POWER MIKE fairly
low ya may get away with it.the higher ya turn the gain on the power mike the squeal will
get worse.i reccomend turning the pot inside the
mike to ther minium setting then slowly increase
till it squeals then just back ikt off a tad.
now if your not gonna use talkback shouldnt squeal at all, unless ya max out the gain on the
452 mike

I believe Dale meant an Astatic 636L noise cancelling mic. If you go with this style of mic remember to keep the rubber guard on your lip, otherwise you will get complaints of low audio. I have this mic and the Astatic Red Devil noise cancelling power mic. I am currently using the Red Devil in my Jeep. If you look at the Forum members special area you will see that forum members get a discount on it also. The only complaint I have about the mic is the red plastic.

I use the Astatic 636 on my Connex 4800. Thats all I have ever used. The fellas are right, you are supposed to rest the lip gaurd on your top lip. My audio is loud but clear, very clear. SSB I must turn back the mic gain to about 2 o clock or it gets to loud for that mode. FM mode I have to turn the mic gain back even more!
I would not use a power mic on my Connex, not needed. A properly tuned Connex will always have that loud bright crystal clear sound to it just as long as the operator does'nt try to over do it. Listen for the Hotwire mobile in DX land for a sample! 73

SRA-158 that comes stock with Gen Lee is the best I have found. Im not sure if it comes stock on the Connex but they sound loud and clear with these radios.

Mr Clean,

I have both the General Lee and the Connex 3300HP Conferderate Edition, and they both come with the same stock mic. I have been told that mic sounds great on both.

The stock mics sure do sound good. Really good in my opinion. The only thing I do not care for is the cheap lightweight feel and look they have and no noise canceling.
You buy this exspensive radio that is built like a tank and then they supply you with a cheap plastic mic!
Radio builders like RCI get all hard core with radio features and new designs and big watts but always use the same old flimsy mics.
KEEP IT REAL!
