Hi there. I bought a radioshack 237 2.5 watt walkie talkie and want to connect it to a better antenna. I heard that the rubber antenna that came with it is junk. The radio is'nt much either but it's all I can afford at the moment. What kind of antenna should I connect to the radio? I'm going to try to mount the antenna outdoors if possible. Thanks.

Werner,

Is the antenna removable and have a BNC connector? If so mount an antenna outside and connect the coax to a SO-239 / BNC adapter and connect the coax to your radio.

Yes...it has a removable BNC antenna. Thanks for the response. I'll try that.

Another antenna should really make a difference for distance. Radio Shack.com shows your radio has 5 watts and has instructions on how to hook up a mobile or base antenna. A good antenna can make the smallest radio sound good. Good luck.
