Need to know how to install variable power on Robyn Sb 520D base radio?

you need to get a length of two conductor, shielded cable.
remove VR8, and solder the two conductors and the shield into its holes.

now get a 10K ohm, linear taper potentiometer, and mount it where you want it.

solder the other end of the cable to the new potentiometer. (pot)
solder them just like the original,left to right.
the "top" hole is the one that connects to the middle lead on the new pot.
if the power goes down when you turn the knob up, then switch the two outside wires.
thats it!
dont go crazy turning the power up.
the AM regulator transistor is only rated for 2 amps, and cant take much abuse.
if you plan to turn it up, replace TR 24 and TR 25 with NTE152's or 2N6487's.
you should actually replace all of the 2SC1419's in the radio, but thats another story.
