I tried to post this last night I dont know what happened but, anyways I plugged the power cord in backwards. The radio does still light up but does not transmit. Its a CX connex 3300 non HP. I read somewhere on a different kind of radio it might be a anti spike diode. Anybody give any pointers as to where to look or what to replace. Thanks |

Usually the protection diode is inside near where the power cord enters the back of the radio. You could try putting a fuse in the negative line also to help prevent this from happening again. In order to properly check the diode you have to isolate it from the rest of the circuit, easiest way is to cut one end free from the board and check for a short or open with a DVM.
