Does anyone have any experience regarding painting a Max 2000 fiberglass antenna? I recently installed a camouflaged aluminum mast and really like the difference of the green as compared the white on the antenna as I am mounting this one alongside a tree. I live in a very residential area and would prefer to hide in plain sight. Obviously I would stay away from any kind of paint with metals in it and stay towards a powder type of spray coating. But having never done this before I am wondering if there is anything obvious to steer clear of or can I just hand the color swatch to my wife and let her decide? Thanks guys. |

I painted my IMAX 2000 with dull gray primer. I cleaned it up first, then painted everything to camoflauge it in with the tree it is near. Dull primer took away any shine/reflection, and if I need to add different colors, it's already primered and ready to go. I would recommend flat paint vice gloss to match the natural environment. And you are right to stay away from any metallic paint. |

I painted my IMAX a 3 color camo sceme and it did not affect the antenna at all. Got the paint at the Big Orange Box improvement store.

After my experience with my Max 2000, once i get an aluminium replacement i will be painting it with petrol and drying the "paint" with a lighter.

Gentlemen,Thank you very much for the info. I will be reading every Lon suggested closely.
FYI Robert DiSanza from Solarcom/Tencom replied to my e-mail to him regarding painting his fiberglass antennas. He stated as long as I keep away from mettalic paint I can feel free to use whatever I like. The flats sound best to me. Thank you again.
